The 2-day Marrakech to Merzouga trip is perfect if you’re short on time but want to experience Morocco’s desert, ride camels, and sleep under the stars in a desert camp. Your adventure begins at 7:00 a.m. with a hotel or riad pickup in Marrakech. The early start allows plenty of stops for photos and sightseeing along the way.

From Marrakech, you’ll drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass, stopping for panoramic views and snapshots of scenic Berber villages. Next, head to the famous Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This remarkable fortified village has been featured in big films like Gladiator and The Mummy. During summer, there’s time for a quick tour; otherwise, it’s a photo stop.

Continue toward Ouarzazate, where you’ll see film studios and the Taourirt Kasbah from outside. The trip moves on with scenic stops as you cross into the beautiful landscapes around Rose Valley and the Skoura palm grove. Lunch is usually in Tinejdad or Touroug. Traveling deeper into the desert, you’ll reach the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga.
