Itinerary: 2 Days, 1 Night - Marrakech to Fes via Erg Chebbi
Get up close with the Sahara on this short but deep desert experience. You’ll camp in the sand dunes, take a camel trek, and catch amazing sunset and sunrise views.
Pick-up from your Marrakech hotel in a private vehicle. Drive across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, cross the Tizi N’tichka pass (2,260 meters), and visit the famed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Enjoy lunch at a local spot, then continue to Ouarzazate. Stop near the Atlas film studios for photos before exploring the city center and the Kasbah of Taourirt. Take in the views of Kalaa M’gouna and Boumalne Dades including a panoramic stop overlooking the Dades Valley. The road continues to Todra Gorges by way of Imider and Tinghir, with plenty of stops for photos along the way. Explore the towering walls of Todra Gorges, then travel through Tinejdad and Erfoud before reaching the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Here, hop on a camel for a sunset ride into the heart of the dunes. Arrive at your desert camp for a night in a traditional or luxury nomad tent, where dinner under the stars awaits.
Wake early to watch the sun rise over the Sahara, then enjoy breakfast at camp. Begin the trip to Errachidia through Erfoud, Aoufous, and the scenic Ziz Valley, stopping to take in the wide views of Aoufous oasis in Tafilalte. Cross the Tizi N’talghamt pass to reach Midelt for lunch. After lunch, continue to Fes by way of the Cedar Forest near Azrou, a great spot to see Barbary monkeys. There’s time to stop in Ifrane, Morocco’s version of Switzerland, before reaching Fes. Drop-off is at your chosen address in the city.

If you want to skip the camel ride, the camp provides a 4×4 vehicle to bring you and your bags to and from camp. You can also request ATVs for an extra fee.
During your camel ride, you’ll carry only what you need. The camp staff transports all your other bags by 4×4, so your luggage will be waiting for you when you arrive.
Travel happens in either an air-conditioned SUV or a minivan. For small groups, the SUV is usually a Land Cruiser Prado and fits up to 4 people. Minivans like the Mercedes Vito Tourer or Ford Tourneo carry up to 8. For bigger groups, a minibus for up to 18 is available.
